About the Tour

Once the summer capital of British India, Shimla is forever the Queen of Hills!

When the British came to India, they faced a hard time due to the hot weather conditions here. In search of relief, they turned towards the Himalayas and discovered Shimla hidden amidst the dense forests. Post the Anglo-Nepalese War, when the Britishers earned control over this land, the face of the region began to change. Many officers started visiting the city often. Over time, they built schools, churches, offices. Till date, these buildings impress visitors with their stunning colonial architecture.

In their time, the Britishers also built the Kalka–Shimla Railway line which

provides a striking view of the Himalayas. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most visited tourist spots of Shimla. The proper connectivity through roads and a designated train line further accelerated the growth of this city. Today, Shimla is one of the most developed hill stations of India. It is a place where modernity, technology, culture, environment all come together and merge to become one. Being the education hub with Bishop Cotton School, St. Edward’s School, Auckland House School and Convent of Jesus & Mary, the city has turned into a cosmopolitan which welcomes new ideas and people with open arms.

When in Shimla, start your day by visiting the Jakhoo temple. Post that, you can enjoy walking along the mall road. This same path leads to the Ridge, the Christ Church, the State Library, and Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex are located here. From there, you can take a ride to Thandi Sadak where you can enjoy a cup of tea at the Verma tea stall which too started in the British era. Shimla is also world known for adventure activities. One of the largest natural ice skating rinks is present here. The world’s highest go-kart track in Kufri is hardly an hour’s drive from Shimla. Apart from this, Shimla is also known for hosting South Asia’s biggest mountain bike race on its steep terrain – Hero MTB!
